Clinton Democratic Town Committee

Martin Jaffe – Planning and Zoning Commission

I am interested in serving on the Planning and Zoning Commission in order to use my professional experience and expertise to improve land use decisions affecting the Town.  Several years ago, I moved to Clinton after retiring from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where I taught urban planning and policy for 30 years and was Department Head from 2005-2008.  I was also the extension program manager for Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant, a NOAA-funded university program helping coastal communities. Prior to my academic appointments, I was the research program manager for the American Planning Association and the regulatory planner for the Martha’s Vineyard Commission.  I enjoy public service, currently serving on Clinton’s Harbor Management Commission and having served for 8 years on my local historic preservation commission in suburban Chicago, and also like building small boats.
