Clinton Democratic Town Committee

Jason Adler – Board of Education

I believe we are at a crucial time for education in Connecticut. With state funding in doubt our school systems will have to be extremely diligent and creative to maintain our children’s educational opportunities. There also has to be sensitivity to the difficult fiscal environment faced by some in our community.

I have been working in the field of education since graduating Swarthmore College in 1996. I first served as Assistant Director of Admission at Connecticut College in New London. This was followed by graduate school and a new career as a school counselor. I have served in that capacity in two Connecticut school systems: East Lyme and Waterford.

In my stay at Waterford I have become the head of my department, overseeing the school counseling programs at both the middle and high schools. I have also assisted other districts while on accreditation visits to their high schools through my work with the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

Always a proud union member, last year I was elected as president of the Waterford Federation of Certified Teachers, a local branch of the American Federation of Teachers. In that capacity I have endeavored to work with administration to establish a working environment that maximizes the learning potential of our students. I am a firm believer that we can take care of our teachers and students in a way that both maximizes their potential while being fiscally responsible.

Education is critically important to the future of Clinton. When our schools shine so, too, does our community.

My wife Meredith and I have lived in Clinton for 17 years and have two children, Isaac (13) and Tobias (11). We love this town and the community, services and education it provides. I look forward to the possibility of serving the people who have done so much for our family.
