Passion for Good Government – By Mary Jo Phelps – Published August 16, 2017
It is a pleasure to express my support for Christine Goupil for Clinton’s first selectman as well as Tim Guerra and Jack Scherban for Board of Selectmen. These candidates were endorsed by the Democratic Town Committee because of their passion for good government and their commitment to working hard for the citizens of Clinton.
Christine Goupil led the implementation of Clinton’s Plan of Conservation and Development, a five-year effort that focused on getting input from a wide range of sources: town boards and commissions, business owners, and residents. She has a vision for our town that encourages economic development without sacrificing the small-town character that is crucial to attract new families to Clinton.
Both Tim Guerra and Jack Scherban are also experienced volunteers, serving the town of Clinton on the Planning & Zoning Commission and Board of Finance, respectively. Tim and Jack are also dedicated to expanding the tax base through economic development here in Clinton, a critical effort that seems lacking under our current leadership.
Clinton Democrats may not be aware that there will be a primary on Tuesday, Sept. 12. I believe that if your readers investigate these candidates, they will agree they are the people we need at Town Hall.
