Meet Nancy Stone, candidate for Zoning Board of Appeals, alternate seat.
I spent my summers growing up in Clinton. In 2007, my husband Joshua Stein and I bought a home in Clinton and after retiring, moved here full time in 2016.
One of my proudest movements was getting my first library card at the Henry Carter Library, in the center of town, after learning to sign my name in cursive; the library is my favorite place in town.
I have been an alternate on the Zoning Board of Appeals since I was appointed in May of this year and am be running for the alternate seat in November. I was also recently named to the Board of Families Helping Families. I am a FHF volunteer at the Friday Cafe, summer lunch program for children. My hope is to continue volunteering with Families Helping Families and in the Clinton schools. I am also involved with the Salon Talk series at the library which meets every third Tuesday.
I am an avid reader and runner, and enjoy gardening, cooking, skiing, SCUBA and knitting.
I am a mother of two adult children; Gillian, who works at Hartford Steam Boiler and lives in West Hartford, and James, who is studying for his PhD in music composition at UC Berkley. Josh and I now share our home with Raylan, a mixed breed yellow lab, adopted from Labs for Rescue.
